Intern - Operations Center

Wiley is looking for passionate interns to join our exciting, challenging, and rapidly expanding team in Sri Lanka. This position is a hands-on intern position where you will be working with the Operations Center Team for Wiley’s internal applications.

What we look for:

• An undergraduate from a recognized university reading for a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or any other related discipline
• Willingness to work in a 24x7 roster based working environment
• Self-paced or hands-on Windows / Linux Server environments such as basic installing, basic commands, basic capabilities
• Self-paced or hands-on experience in Virtualization (VirtualBox, ESXi, EC2)
• Knowledge in Linux / Unix and basic scripting with bash, Perl, or python
• Knowledge of OOP concepts
• Knowledge in basic networking
• Knowledge of database concepts and SQL statement generation
• Excellent communication skills along with problem-solving skills
• Basic understanding in cloud-based environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
• Knowledge in languages such as PHP, Node, Java will be an added advantage

• Proactive and Reactive Monitoring of Applications Systems and Infrastructure
• Developing focused highly effective automation/tools set
• Improve on communication skills, understanding the dynamics of working in a team
• Reading, understanding and writing technical documentation

• Proactive and Reactive monitoring 1500+ applications & assistance escalation and troubleshooting
• Participate in Major incident discussions with support teams and incident management teams leveraging support where possible on tasks
• Take part in innovation and development of Automation software / In house tools to support the operations and reduce the workload
• Learn, advance and research new technological opportunities
